After massive neighborhood (SASY/MNA) testimony against the approval of an alcohol license at the Stop N Go (recently bought out by Kwik Trip), the ALRC decided to approve it anyway. The Madison City Council did not go along with the approval, however, and is set to reconsider it at its February 2nd. Common Council meeting. City opposition to an alcohol license can only be made if there is an issue of "public health and welfare." Being that the store is 0.3 miles (1,500 ft) from a High School and about 0.5 miles from a Middle School, I believe there may be a compelling reason for the store to be denied the alcohol license. We will see what happens!
