New York Times op-ed raises concerns of binge drinking among women, minorities and older Americans12/31/2017 Gabrielle Glasser, a bestselling author and columnist for the New York Times points to research that shows some concerning trends of binge drinking among women, minorities and older Americans. Additionally, Glasser points to a 50% increase in alcohol related emergency room visits since 2000 and an increase in cirrhosis of the liver rates after many decades of decreasing rates.

In yet another disappointing decision supporting the ease and accessibility of alcohol purchase of alcohol in Madison, the city's Alcohol Licensing and Review Committee is supporting ordinance changes that will allow drive-up or curbside pickup of alcohol for customers of grocery store chains.
